MVRDV presents vision for Grand Paris 2030. This animation presents MVRDVs vision for Greater Paris 2030. The project Paris Plus petit by MVRDV in collaboration with ACS and AAF is one of ten proposals by international architecture and urbanism teams to envision the future of the French capital and its vast agglomeration. The urban challenge has been commissioned by Nicolas Sarkozy, President of France. Paris Plus stands for more: more ambition, more optimism, more density, more efficiency, more ecology and more compactness. Greater Paris needs a strong combination of responsibility and ambition to continue its development, to ensure its consistency and to develop a cohesion that can build a base for a collective enterprise to solve its problems, to enlarge its presence and attractiveness, to create an even more remarkable, exemplary city. MVRDV with ACS and AAFs response for President Sarkozys 2009 urban planning consultation for the great challenge of the Greater Paris area is represented in four parts: the Synthesis, the City Calculator©, the Data and the Observation. The Synthesis defines the spatial agenda for the city, based on ambitious and responsible strategies for the French capital. It is the core of the response and proposes a series of 17 large scale interventions that are based on an analysis of the citys fabric, its future programmatic needs and spatial possibilities. The proposals are interventions based on available space and feasible. Among them the ambition to make Paris highly accessible: the creation of a grand central station at the location of Les Halles, underground densification of the Boulevard Périphérique by adding a metro line and two underground motorways ring-roads, the creation of new Grand Axes and a subterranean infrastructure band along the Seine. The space liberated by the buried infrastructure is used for a housing program that allows for urban living in pleasant and green environments. Further parts of the vision are investments into transport, nature, education, culture, social cohesion and vast amounts of renewable energy. The sum of all projects can avoid future sprawl and radically transform Paris into one of the densest, most compact and therefore sustainable high quality cities in the world: Paris Plus petit. The City Calculator© is a proposed demo version of a potential software and possible webtool, which quantifies the behaviour and performance of a city and makes it comparable to others. It connects qualitative to quantitative parameters. It can be used as a public and planning tool to support sustainable planning. The City Calculator© will be conceived in collaboration, by The Why Factory at Delft University of Technology. The Data gives the overview of the detailed research on the functioning and performance of Greater Paris, which has been the background for the spatial proposals. The Observations are a series of articles on the backgrounds, the history, the potentials and the problems of the French metropolis. President Nicolas Sarkozy commissioned in June 2008 ten teams of architects and urban planners to imagine an exemplary \"Grand Paris\" a sustainable and boldly designed capital. The project was hailed being the most ambitious since Haussmann changed Paris in the 19th century. The challenge for the 10 teams was envisioning the European metropolis in 2030 being a \"post-Kyoto\" green urban centre which allows for growth beyond the current two million Parisians and provides them with attractive urban environments. This is the Hearst Tower and the view from the 46 stories building near Columbus Circle. Hearst Tower is a \"green building\" the first building to receive a Gold LEED certified rating for \"core and shell and interiors\" in New York City. * Over 90% of structural steel contains recycled material * The cost of foreign-sourced materials represents less than 10% of the cost of the construction of the Tower itself. * The \"diagrid\" frame of the Tower contains roughly 20% less steel than would a conventional perimeter frame ‹ saving approximately 2,000 tons of steel. * The waterfall inside uses water collected as rainfall. * Each triangle in the diagrid is four stories tall, or 54 feet. * Daylight sensors to control lighting and reduce energy use The environmentally conscious approach began prior to construction. When demolishing the interior portions of the existing, six-story structure, Hearst and its team of building professionals went to great lengths to collect and separate recyclable materials. As a result, about 85 percent of the original structure was recycled for future use. Hearst executives also selected an innovative type of glass that wraps around the exterior of the building. The glass has a special \"low-E\" coating that allows for internal spaces to be flooded with natural light while keeping out the invisible solar radiation that causes heat. Hearst also will utilize technology that senses activity level. At lunchtime, when some employees are leaving or not using their computers, motion sensors will detect this and adjust the system accordingly. These sensors will allow for lights and computers to be turned off when a room is vacant. In addition, Hearst is using high efficiency heating and air-conditioning equipment that will utilize outside air for cooling and ventilation for 75 percent of the year, as well as Energy Star appliances. These and other energy-saving features are expected to increase energy efficiency by 22 percent compared to a standard office building. This is a welcome innovation in New York City, where rapidly growing electricity demand is threatening to overwhelm the local power supply. Hearst is also employing pioneering technologies in order to conserve and more efficiently use water. For example, Hearst\'s roof has been designed to collect rainwater, which reduces the amount of water dumped into the City\'s sewer system during rainfall by 25 percent. The rainwater will then be harvested in one 14,000-gallon reclamation tank located in the basement of the Hearst Tower. The rainwater is used to replace water lost to evaporation in the office air-conditioning system. It also feeeds into a special pumping system to irrigate plantings and trees inside and outside of the building. It is expected that the captured rain will produce about half of the watering needs. The harvested water also is utilized for \"Icefall,\" a three-story, sculpted water feature within the building\'s grand atrium. In addition to serving as a stunning entrance to the building, Icefall, which is believed to be the nation\'s largest sustainable water feature, also serves an environmental function by serving to humidify and chill the atrium lobby as necessary. Workstations and offices are furnished with desks, chairs and other furniture that is formaldehyde free. Concrete surfaces are furnished with low toxicity sealants. Hiện tại tập đoàn Snøhetta đã được cấp vốn để tiến hành dự án này bắt đầu vào cuối năm nay. Công trình này sẽ nằm ở phạm vi 15km về phái đông của thành phố Dubai. Sau khi được hoàn thành, nó sẽ trở thành một Cổng Chào cho thành phố Ras Al Khaimah. Mẫu thiết kế này được lấy cảm hứng từ những sa mạc và rặng núi xung quanh. Đồng thời, đặc điểm thiết kế còn tạo ra một diện tích vô cùng lớn bóng râm tự nhiên và đảm bảo an toàn cho các công trình bên trong. Bao quanh bên ngoài sẽ là một loạt khu liên hợp đa chức năng được phối hợp chặt chẽ cùng nhau. Quần thế kiến trúc 300000 m2 này sẽ bao gồm khách sạn, nghị viện và các trung tâm mua sắm, triển lãm. The Beijing National Stadium (traditional Chinese: 北京國家體育場; simplified Chinese: 北京国家体育场; Hanyu Pinyin: Běijīng Guójiā Tǐyùchǎng; Tongyong Pinyin: Běijīng Guójiā Tǐyùchǎng), also known as the National Stadium,[1] or the \"Bird\'s Nest\" (鳥巢) for its architecture, is a stadium finished for the Olympic Green in Beijing, China that has so far been completed as of March 2008.[2] The stadium will host the main track and field competitions for the 2008 Summer Olympics, as well as the opening and closing ceremonies. It is located east of the Beijing National Aquatics Centre. In 2002, Government officials engaged architects worldwide in a design competition. Pritzker Prize-winning architects Herzog & de Meuron collaborated with ArupSport and China Architecture Design & Research Group to win the competition. Contemporary Chinese artist, Ai Weiwei, is the Artistic Consultant for design.[3] The ground was broken on Christmas Eve December 2003, and construction started in March 2004, but was halted by the high construction cost in August 2004 and continued again. In January 2008, concerns about construction working conditions arose when it was revealed that 2 workers had died during the stadium\'s construction. The stadium can seat as many as 91,000 spectators during the Olympics. The capacity will then be reduced to 80,000 after the Games. It has replaced the original intended venue of the Guangdong Olympic Stadium[citation needed]. The stadium is 330 metres long by 220 metres wide, and is 69.2 metres tall. The stadium uses 258,000 square metres of space and has a usable area of 204,000 square metres. It was built with 36 km of unwrapped steel[citation needed], with a combined weight of 45,000 tonnes. The stadium has some 11,000 square metres of underground rooms with waterproof walls. The stadium will cost up to 3.5 billion yuan (≈423 million USD).
