Maxime Barbier is an architect recognized both in France and internationally for his experience in the design and construction of all the various constituent spaces of our cities. Architect for more than 20 years and partner of the Paris-based practice SCAU Architecture, he develops a transdisciplinary expertise: sport, healthcare, education, offices, housing, hospitality, culture, commerce, justice and rehabilitation of existing projects. Passionate about sports projects, he is notably the author of the Vélodrome Stadium in Marseille, the Océane Stadium in Le Havre and the Adidas Arena Porte de la Chapelle for the 2024 Olympic Games, to name only the most emblematic.
Regularly invited as a lecturer and juror, Maxime is asked by many French and international institutions or by students to present the agency's projects and know-how.
In parallel, he leads, with the agency's research department, reflections free of any order on various subjects. The publication of the AA special issue L’Architecture d’Aujourd’hui “SCAU Architecture et Philosophie” and the exhibition “Soutenir. City, architecture and care” are its most recent expressions. In this context, he contributes, with all the partners of the agency, to the forthcoming publication of a book devoted to “play”. The projects carried out by SCAU nourish theoretical work and research which, in turn, enrich the projects. Maxime considers you have to think in order to act, and vice-versa, with passion.
