HCMC Transport Dept proposes investing in 15 traffic projects

The HCMC Transport Department proposed developing 15 key traffic projects with a total investment of some VND100 trillion at a conference held on March 8 to approve its 2021 plan.

The department asked the HCMC government to assign other relevant departments and agencies to promptly map out plans to develop the 15 key projects, which will be funded by the city’s budget of over VND32 trillion and other sources totaling some VND64 trillion.

These key traffic projects are set to comprise Can Gio and Thu Thiem 4 bridges, the expansion of national highways 1 and 13 and elevated roads, among others, the local media reported.

Tran Quang Lam, director of the Transport Department, said that one of the key missions this year was supplementing and adjusting the plan to develop traffic projects, mainly those which connect some parts of the city with the southern key economic zone.

The department will work with the transport departments of the provinces in the southern region to propose the Ministry of Transport consider speeding up the work on some projects, including Ring Roads 3 and 4, the Cat Lai Bridge and the HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay expression expansion, said Lam.
